I have been unable to upload anything to www.shadowrat.com over the past 2 weeks due to an error with my hosting company. My ftp keeps giving me an 'access denied' message, and apparently it is doing likewise to a friend who also hosts his site with these people.

I have submitted a ticket to their help desk and am awaiting response.

But it does mean nothing can be uploaded here until they get back to me.
I may end up switching my host if this is not sorted out quickly, as Im paying for this service, quite a damn lot too, and have been unable to use it for the past 2 weeks.

new art, new rats, new morons

I've also added pages for Frankie, Bess and Chloe.
The rat care section has been tweaked a little, and some of it re-worded. There is also now a page on the importance of not keeping rats on their own, as it seems to be an issue which comes up a lot in rat communities.

I haven't drawn Thom Yorke as a rat for ages, maybe 6 years now. I really think I should, apparently people expect it. I never knew I had so many fans.......

The rat's pages have also been updated so all my rats are now on there. The photo galleries were removed as they took up a lot of room and upkeep and I don't know that anyone even looked at them. However, I will get around to adding 5 or 6 thumbnail pics of each rat to the bottom of their individual pages.
I had a horrible virus/infection hit my colony and I lost Juju and Olly to it. Things haven't been very merry with regards to my rats of late.

My scanner has been broken for the last few weeks and I've only just got it working again, so art had to take a break. Also, Iowa died yesterday. He wasn't even 2. I still don't know why, but it seems he died in his sleep as he was curled up in his igloo.

Uploaded two new pieces:

My college course is really eating up the time I have for my art lately, which is pissing me off. I have tuesdays off but that day is currently going towards doing college assignments and finishing art trades. I am sketching a lot, and have as many ideas as I ever did, I just don't have the time to complete anything any more. The free time I do have, such as after college, Im finding Im too tired to take on a big art piece. Sigh.

As for the main site, I went through and tweaked a few things. The 'about my art' section seemed rather redundant, what with the FAQ and all, so I deleted that. Now everything about my art is in the FAQ page, which has also been updated and shortened a bit.
My bio was also slightly tweaked and updated, and made shorter. I am going to try and add some graphics to those pages too, since they look pretty bare with just text. It was always the idea from the offset but it kinda got lost along the way.

Ooh, and in case anyone was wondering, art featuring wolves will go into the dog and cat category. I know wolves technically aren't dogs, and they may well be moved to the miscellaneous section in time, but for now they're in with the dogs.

I haven't been doing a lot of art, I've just been lazy with my updates so it appears I've done a lot. Im doing a college course in animal management now so that eats up a lot of my time but Im still finding the time to do art, which is good. I do a lot of art and doodling at college now so I might even be doing more art, despite having less time.

Only one new piece of art of any interest since the last update:

JuJu and Josh both have their own pages in the 'rats' section, though neither have photo galleries up yet.

In other news, JuJu is fine after his little mishap, might always have a scar though, Im thinking of going back to college, and I want to start selling art/doing comissions. Mail me about that kind of thing.
Im in a bit of a slump regarding art right now so Im also welcoming trades with open arms, anything which will force me to do something I wouldn't normally draw.

So now, all updates to the site or info on art status, and just anything generally art or site related will be here. This way, people are free to sign up and post comments telling me what they like, what they don't like, what they'd rather see done differently and any art requests/trades/commissions.

Bitching, whining, attention seeking, drama-queen behaviour will not be found here. For that, I use http://www.livejournal.com/users/sicpuppy/

Im free from art trades/commissions right now and have no real ideas for any pieces I want to start for myself, so trades are once again open. You know the drill.

I've finally done the icons for the index of the site. Go to http://www.shadowrat.com/places.html to see them.
The magic unclickable icon to the bottom right will eventually be the page for my book, but as it's still not finished, it might be a while. I just thought it looked terribly uneven with only 5 icons so I had to put something in. Thats the OCD raising it's ugly head.
